Abstract
This research examines the effect of the Family Support and Internal-External Control on Elderly People Social Participation compare urban with rural. The object of research are people over 60 years old who attend a welfare center and senior center in B-GUN(n=157) and J-SI(n=194). The research tool is a structured questionnaire which has 65 questions about general characteristics, family support, Internal-External Control, and social participation. There are statistically significant differences between participants of age, define religion, employment, economics, and self-consciousness of health. Both urban and rural area shows in the middle-high family support, there is no difference. Internal-External Controls shows high internal control in both areas however social participation is higher in the urban area. Analysis shows that both Family Support and Internal-External Control has correlation with the Elderly¡¯s Social Participation. This study figures out the level of the eldery¡¯s social participation on the basis of Family Support and the personal Internal-External Control which was nearly ever used in past studies. Especially in the rural area the Internal-External Control is the factor that affects the eldery¡¯s social participation.
